Do affirmations work?
1st of January, 2024
Some research indicates that affirmations (affirming yourself) can help you cope with uncertainty, improve your self-worth and lead to taking actionable (future orientated) steps forward, rather than thinking about and/or living in the past.
Some people wholeheartedly believe in the power of affirmations, some think they are utter nonsense and some don't know or care either way. Like any wellbeing tool/strategy it's about choosing what works for you in the context of your own life...at any given point in time.
Personally, I think some people are quick to dismiss the power of affirmations and yet we have a world full of people not feeling good enough, questioning their worth and abilities...a lot which has derived from internalising the words, actions and inactions of others. So much so that our own inner dialogue/voice turns into a shitty committee highlighting everything we are not. Those thoughts can in turn affect our beliefs, actions, inactions and future potential.
So, why do we (society) dismiss the power of positive affirmations when the power of negative affirmations are clearly demonstrated? Any thoughts? 🤔💜🤔
I wholeheartedly believe that everyone needs to know that they matter and share the three little words (affirmation) 'You Matter Always' daily. I do this because I know the power words have. They can literally build or destroy. My hope is that the little YMA seeds take root where they land and encourage individuals to start remembering and/or relearning how important they are and how much they matter...ALWAYS 💜💜💜
