Music Matters
10th of March, 2024
Music is medicine for the mind and soul. It’s an art form that has human connection and interaction at its core.
Music is universally understood, it creates social cohesion and speaks to all when words fail. It’s a universal language that connects and unites and can play a crucial role to support people at all stages of life…from playing songs or singing to babies in the womb to playing songs to remember a loved one at their funeral. In many ways music matters from cradle to grave.
Music can " stimulate more parts of the brain than any other human function." (Mannes, 2009). And, numerous scientific and psychological studies have shown that music can improve mood, stimulate memories, reduce stress, increase endurance, reduce anxiety, alleviate pain and provide an outlet for emotional expression. Music often speaks what cannot be expressed and can give the mind some rest. Music is what feelings sound like
There are a number of You Matter Always playlists on Spotify...which have all been created by the beautiful humans on the YMA social media platforms.
